Original Painting 65 x 54 in (165 x 137 cm), 2025, oil on canvas.
“RollerGirl” is a poignant reflection on the early formation of fear, rebellion, and identity. Part of the Other Side series, this work introduces a digital heroine — a constructed avatar of the artist herself, imagined within a parallel universe where internal tensions manifest as physical landscapes.
The painting traces its emotional origin to a rooftop in Moscow, where, as a teenager, the artist first experienced the simultaneous pull of risk and transcendence. Below, children skated through the vast alleys of VDNKh park. But she was drawn upward — to a stark Soviet-era structure, all cold geometry and quiet defiance.
What began as a moment of youthful impulse became a lifelong threshold. As the artist recalls, she wasn’t sure what frightened her more: the height, or the possibility of being caught.
A decade later, this formative memory was reimagined through a rooftop performance in Hong Kong, captured in collaboration with Ivan. The digital composition born from that act later evolved into this canvas — not simply a record of risk, but a portrait of the moment one chooses to leave the ground, literally and metaphorically.
“RollerGirl” stands at the edge of worlds — childhood and transformation, fear and freedom, body and code.
